I built my first acoustic guitar (a classical) by hand in 1994. I did it using only hand tools with the exception of drilling tuning machine holes and a few minor table saw cuts. The back and sides were hand picked book-matched Mahogany and the top was Western Red Cedar. It was a major challenge and incredible learning experience that created a passion for building guitars.
I Grew up in northern Wisconsin and in 1973 in college heard Leo Kottke on his album 6 & 12 String Guitar (the armadillo one) and like many others was inspired to play fingerstyle music. It was very blue collar for me as I was not born with rubber fingers like some and it was a lot of work to just get to where I am. I love playing though

Most of my music is structurally very simple and I am very aware of that fact. My creativity is more of a feel in combination with sounds than an educated musical design, but that is all I have ever done and I'm happy with it. My hope is that even in their simplicity my songs will bring some peace or happiness to someone's life.
Life is an amazing journey and as I look around I realize that there must be way more to my environment, my soul and my existence. I don't tell others how to live but I believe to live without question leaves you without fulfillment.
